Venus Flytrap

Dionaea muscipula

A strange insectivorous plant
From the Eastern coast of the United States
With its trap open & ready
Patiently it waits

Its patience is soon rewarded
A fly comes buzzing by, looking for something to eat
The plant releases a fake scent of food
The fly starts to eat the nectar inside, soon the jaws clamp shut in a heartbeat

The fly must have touched one of the hairs inside the trap
But now it can't come out, however it may try
Those jaws have jammed shut
The plant gets to work, using enzymes produced by special glands to digest the fly
