Indian Luna Moth

Phantom of Twilight

This rare Luna Moth is a nocturnal flier. These beautiful creatures can grow up to 6 inches long.

Luna moth caterpillars eat the foliage of the trees on which they grow. Adults, like other members of the giant silkworm family, don’t eat at all. Thus, they only live for about a week.

Four crescents are visible on its wings

The twin streamers have a unique purpose. The twirled streamers deter it’s main predator – bats, by messing up their echolocation.
